| The Williamstown Maritime Association was formed by the organisers of the Williamstown Heritage Boat Show held in March 2004 at the former Port of Melbourne Authority site in Nelson Place Williamstown. At the conclusion of this very successful event, it was decided to pursue the idea of establishing a permanent site in Williamstown in which to preserve the unique role the city played as the first seaport to service the Colony. A lot of infrastructure associated with this romantic era has been lost to the developers hammer and it was thought with the proper management and planning that this precinct could become a first class maritime attraction for the people of Victoria. The concept for the site is for it to become a working Maritime Precinct and for the development to be staged over a number of years, allowing full consultation with the community and interested groups. With this in mind, a Board of Directors has been established (December 2004) to enable this vision to become a reality. Accordingly, we would encourage like minded people to join our Association and assist us in achieving these aims. A membership application is here. Full membership is $25.00 per annum which includes an association T-Shirt and regular news letters. (Please advise if you would like you newsletter by e-mail.) You will also be informed of special membership social activities and entitelments. |
